In response to a call from Organize for America, we sent volunteers to the Silverlake Farmers’ Market and Trader Joe’s last Saturday. Despite the dreary weather, between the two locations we had 265 who identified themselves as supporters of the president’s economic adjenda.
A big thanks to everyone who gave their valuable free time on Saturday to make it happen!
SUPPORTERS OF PRESIDENT OBAMA’S BUDGET TO HAND DELIVER 642,000 PLEDGES GATHERED FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY TO CAPITOL HILL
Organizing for America (OFA), a project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), will hold a press availability and photo/b-roll opportunity at DNC headquarters TODAY, Wednesday, April 1, as OFA Director Mitch Stewart and more than 100 local OFA volunteers gather to hand deliver 642,000 signed pledges in support of President Obama’s budget to Congress. ***See a preview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=496fFCEi08o. ***
President Obama’s budget includes a plan to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term and create jobs by investing in the three areas most critical to our future:
· Energy: Transforming America’s economy to run on clean and renewable energy in order to create new American jobs and industries.
· Health care: Comprehensively reforming health care so that families, businesses and government are relieved from the crushing costs that impede economic growth and prosperity.
· Education: Reforming and investing in America’s education system so our children are prepared to compete in a global economy.
OFA’s Pledge Project is part of a larger OFA effort to identify and mobilize support for the economic vision President Obama outlined in his budget. OFA is also encouraging Americans to call their Members of Congress and urge them to support the plan. Everyday, volunteers and supporters are continuing to have conversations and educate their neighbors and members of their community about the President’s plan.
